Last meeting!!

Today Kara and I met and showed each other our final papers!! We are going to submit them later on after fixing a few spots.

Last Monday....

Kara and I met again today. We are adding the finishing touches to our papers, and helping each other in any way we can. We both still need to finish getting sources, but we are well on our way. We also met and talked friday, but forgot to blog!

Monday, Monday

Today Kara and I met yet again. We are pretty much continuing to research and share what we find. We are both getting lots of good information for our papers.

Today Kara and I met as usual and I told her about how I've been organizing my paper by using the outline, and actually filling it out with my research. I'm now starting to actually write my paper, and it's making it easier to have the outline somewhat filled in. We just continued to talk about our papers, and share some resources with one another.

Today Kara and I met again as usual around 10 o'clock. We discussed further ideas for our paper, and how we are going about beginning to organize our papers.

Today Kara and I met again around 10 o'clock. We are continuing to help each other out, and talk about our progress on our research papers. We are still researching and finding things to add to our papers, and sharing sources.

Another day another dollar

Kara and I continued to research and work together this week. We forgot to record on monday and wednesday! We have helped each other with some places to go in SL, and shared our findings. We are just continuing to work on our papers, and help each other as much as possible with questions! I am finding a lot of good places for education with help from Kara and others like Tohasu, and I found Desideria's school! It was pretty neat.

It's friday!!

Kara and I met today. We went a little more into depth about our paper topics and ideas. We also shared some websites we used on previous papers. I did a little more exploring around!

What a beautiful day

Today Kara and I met in the Black Sun. We helped one another with research, we also talked to Tahosu Moore. He gave me some ideas, and landmarks of places to visit for Education in SL! He also talked to Kara today.

Kara and I met today. We discussed our questions, and tried to view them objectively. We will meet again wednesday!

Extra, extra, read all about it

Kara and I met today. We worked on our outlines together. It was very difficult, and I felt like mine was very vague, but I have to wait until I have more answers from research. We both kind of struggled with the outlines, since we have lots more researching and work to do!

Research paper outline

I. Intro. - I will pull my reader in with a clever story from my research. Then, lead up to my research question.... which is:
In the midst of all the negative things in Second Life, is it possible to get a true education?

III. Conclusion...
I will talk about what I've found. I can't really write much of this yet, it's going to depend on my research. But, I'll state what I find, and if I think SL has an option of really learning things or not. I think with my information, I will probably find that although there are lots of places that are for entertainment or personal purposes, there are some ways to get an education. I will just have to look around, and see with my research how my opinion turns out.

Kara and I met today. We talked about our new topics for the research paper. She is going to write about Sexuality and I'm going to write about Education. We can help each other out with research and stuff because I've already written about Sexuality, and she has written about Education!

Last extra credit meeting

Today Kara and I met up and exchanged papers. We proof read the final copies, and gave our words of advice to each other.

Extra credit (Monday and today)

Kara and I met on Monday and forgot to post! We talked about how we're approaching our papers, and what we are going to do differently from our first paper. We helped each other get started. We didn't get any research done in SL since it was down! sad day.

Today I showed Kara my intro. paragraph and how I'm coming along. Kara showed me her start to her paper. We both are bummed since SL is still down! boo.. Today I'm just continuing to research outside of SL.

Thesis numero dos

Sexuality in Second Life is similar in many ways to sexuality in real life: it's geared towards both men and women, where it takes your mind, and just like in real life men tend to dominate in the sexual relationships.

And so it begins again..

Today Kara and I met at 10 o' clock in the Black Sun. We discussed what we are writing our papers on, and how we are getting started on our thesis statements. Kara is writing her second paper on Education.

For my second paper I want to write about Sexuality. I think it's an interesting concept online, and I went to Midian City to research for my last paper. I feel like I already know some stuff that I could use in my paper, and then do further research.

The e.c. journey continues

Today Kara and I met around 10:45, after our guest speaker. Kara showed me her revised introduction, and gave me some pointers for mine. I need to finish my paper, so we just talked about what was needed for the remainder of our papers.

Extra credit again

Today Kara and I met around 5:50 and discussed a couple of sources we found to use in our papers. I also asked her how to source the cites I found. We also went to Midian City together. We discovered some people role playing some very weird scenes. We met a man who felt the same way. We will meet again tomorrow!

Today Kara and I met around 10:15 in the Black Sun. We went more into depth about citations, and where we are going to get our sources. We basically talked about the finishing touches we need to write our papers.

Today Kara and I met around 10:20 in the Black Sun. We talked about citations, and what we need to do and find for our resources. We also talked more about places we have visited. We tried to talk about citation, to fully understand exactly what we need to do. We will meet again on Monday!

Kara and I met again today at 10:00 in the Black Sun. We talked about our paper topics, and what we are going to write about. We discussed the places we have been, and where we are still going to go. We plan on meeting again friday to talk about anything we've found, or accomplished on our papers.

New thesis for the first short paper:

Interacting and chatting with people in SL is different on many levels from meeting in the real world; the program makes it much easier to be someone you're not, you don't have to get up and go anywhere, and you are truly free to be whoever you want to be.

Topic selection, thesis, and approach for paper 1

Well, I went into SL exploring for Crime and Punishment. I changed my clothes, and went to Midian City. Expecting to see lots of stuff, and know exactly what I wanted to write about. Instead, I met someone, and changed my mind. My topic for the first paper will be social interaction. I want to write about crime and punishment eventually, but I think I want to do that for the next paper. That way when I write about it, I will know a lot more, and be able to write a better paper on the subject.

My approach will be explaining my experiences in SL, and the people that I have met through SL. I want to compare it to meeting with people in real life, and also how different it may be. I will describe how I feel about interaction online, and why it just isn't the same as meeting people in real life. Also, how you can get away with being someone you are not, and literally live a second life from the one you're now living. I can see how it could be more comfortable meeting and chatting with someone who you don't have to physically impress. Or, if you goof up and say something embarrassing you can just teleport home! I think this will be a very interesting subject to look into, and write about.

Interacting and chatting with people in SL is different on many levels from meeting in the real world.

My first stargate adventure

The first place I went was called Hill of Hope. (184, 57,30) Those coordinates are approximate because I spent time all over this side of the island. I met a friend, he was very friendly. He lives on the island. Enyaw showed me around and we sat by the pond. He owns a talking statue, and a frog that he also showed to me. He seemed like he knew exactly what he was doing, and was very interesting to talk to. Enyaw Ademeit was his name. He showed Kara and I around some of the island (Kara also was with me for some of this journey). The three of us were going to fly on his carpet, but I had to go and get some work done!
I only had one bad encounter. I went to ride in a boat, but the program kicked me out because I wasn't the owner! It threw me into the water! I wasn't aware that you had to own a boat to get in and ride in it! I also explored and saw the pond before I sat there with Enyaw. It ws a very pretty, relaxing place. There were swans and ducks swimming in the pond. There were many mountains that were somewhat hard to walk on, and trees that were hard to see past at times.
I also explored a very nice house, I'm not sure if you are supposed to do that, but I did. It was pretty awesome, it had a place where you could meditate and think! I got some funny pictures of that. It had a very large, nice kitchen. It appeared to be brand new. The house was gigantic! I walked in and tried to eat and cook, but I couldn't. I don't know if you are supposed to do that either, but it was fun. :)
Overall, this was a very interesting, exciting first place to visit on Second life!

Let me introduce my second self...

My avatar has short brown hair, just like me. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't have wavy or curly hair as an option, also that you have to have bangs! I wanted to make her look as much like me as I could. It kind of worked out. I do have green eyes, and freckles just like her.
However, some things are different. I couldn't figure out how to make the face and nose look just like mine, so that's about as close as it got. She is thin, but also has muscle. She's tall, and has little feet like me. She also is fair skinned, I wish I could have put freckles on her face like mine.
I haven't really made any changes since I first made her. I like the way she looks, so I don't really feel the need to change. I do wish they had a different style of shoe though! I haven't spent any money on the way I look yet, I will probably do some wardrobe changes when given the money, and the chance.
Overall, I am pretty satisfied with how I look. I just wish I could tweek a few things that I mentioned already, but it is pretty neat how realistic the program is. I guess it can't have everything! It is a virtual reality, not God's work. (In my opinion)
I thoroughly enjoyed the different dancing options and gestures. They made me pretty happy. Also, the chuckling, and laughing. Is there a hug option? I thought that would be fun too.
